Johnson Creek Watershed Wildlife Bioblitz
July 1 - August 1
Headed to the park for your daily exercise? Want to learn about wildlife as you contribute to knowledge about our parks and natural areas? Keep an eye out for wildlife at the park during your physically-distanced outings, and report your findings on iNaturalist! All you need to do is download the iNaturalist app, create a login, and participate anytime between July 1st and August 1st by logging observations of animals including birds, mammals, insects and other fauna.
Observations that are corroborated by other iNaturalist users will be uploaded into Portland Parks & Recreation City Nature East’s “wildlife sightings” database utilized by our ecologists and other staff. Johnson Creek Watershed Council will use this information to inform additional Community Science Surveys.
The iNaturalist website has great tutorials about how to use their app and how to log observations with your smartphone or tablet. You can also keep track of observations in the field and input using a computer back at home. You can find that information here.
Please stay on trail and follow all updated PP&R and CDC Covid-related guidelines while you are in the parks and natural areas and
get ready to have some fun and learn some new things about nature. We can’t wait to see what you observe!
Join in the iNaturalist Johnson Creek Wildlife Bioblitz here, note this is a virtual event.
