Lamprey/Steelhead Surveyor Orientation!

February 8 @ 5:45 pm - 8:00 pm

Join our second season of Lamprey/Steelhead Surveys! Pacific lamprey, brook lamprey, and steelhead all are in Johnson Creek and its tributaries. Pacific lamprey are a culturally important fish for Native peoples of the Pacific Northwest, and we are glad to know that the Johnson Creek watershed still has Pacific lamprey in it and hope to learn more through these surveys.

Surveyors will walk through the creek and record signs of lamprey and steelhead. Surveyors commit to 3-4 surveys throughout the season (surveys run from Feb 10 – May 26). Training at Orientation provided by ODFW & JCWC – no experience required.

We’ll be providing soup – feel free to bring a potluck dish to share with your fellow surveyors!

Please fill out the form below to register. We’ll provide the location upon registration.

Lamprey/Steelhead Surveyor Orientation 2018

Register here for Lamprey/Steelhead Surveyor Orientation. Please remember to mark dates you select on your personal and professional calendars! Finalized dates will be sent out shortly after Orientation.
  • Please check at least FOUR dates for which you are available; surveyors will complete a minimum of 3 surveys. Expect to conduct the survey in morning or midday; it will take approximately 3 hours, not including transportation time. We will post the finalized survey schedule shortly after Orientation!
  • This survey will involve photographing signs of fish activity, and finding GPS latitude/longitude. If you have a smart phone you're willing to bring on the survey we greatly appreciate it (though this isn't required). Note that there may be risk to your equipment because you may be walking in the stream during the surveys, although we will provide Ziplock bags to help protect equipment.
  • This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
