Powell Butte Bird Walk and Restoration Planting

WHAT- BIRD WALK AND RESTORATION PLANTING-We will be planting 300 container plants on top of Powell Butte, an extinct volcano butte with many interesting habitats. Before the work begins, Laura Whittemore, a very awesome Audubon instructor will be offering a free bird walk of the Butte from 7:30am-8:45am. Bring your binoculars and join us! Please RSVP

BIRD WALK: 7:30am -8:45am
RESTORATION PLANTING: 9am-12pm
WHERE: Powell Butte Visitor Center– 16160 SE Powell Blvd, Portland, OR 97236. Public transit accessible by #9–and be ready for a rousing 1/2 mile walk up the butte to the site. 🙂
WHAT TO BRING: Our events are rain or shine! Please dress for the weather: warm and rain layers, sturdy shoes, and feel free to bring a water bottle or coffee mug to fill up. We will provide snacks, beverages, tools and training.
WHO: Everyone is welcome-if you are under 18 and are planning to attend without a parent or guardian, your parent will need to sign a waiver which you will bring with you to the event. Contact [email protected] to get this waiver!
Not all volunteer positions are planting jobs! We have jobs for multiple abilities. Typical jobs include: Helping people sign in at the registration table, photography/videography, and litter pick-up are typically other options.
