Tree Planting at Eastmoreland Golf Course
December 2 @ 8:45 am - 12:00 pm
WHAT: Join Crystal Springs Partnership for a three-hour planting party! We will be planting 25 – five gallon container stock trees to plant and cage in the riparian area on Crystal Springs Creek.
This work party is a joint project of the Crystal Springs Partnership and the Johnson Creek Watershed Council. As usual for these things, dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, etc. We will provide gloves and tools but feel free to bring your own favorite shovel, mattock or whatever. Coffee, tea, and snacks provided. Children welcome with a responsible adult (we’re working on a streambank).
WHEN: Sunday, December. 2, 9:00 AM to noon
We will meet at the Eastmoreland Golf Course clubhouse at 9:am, in the back of he parking lot by the chain link gate (the golf course manager will let us through). We will walk about 300 yards up the service road along the RR tracks to the worksite which is behind the driving range.
WHERE: Eastmoreland Golf Course, 2425 SE Bybee Blvd.
WHY: Trees will shade the creek and help keep the water temperature cool enough for salmon, steelhead and trout! The purchase of these trees was made possible thanks to a grant from the City of Portland that was awarded to the CSP and the Johnson Creek Watershed Council when Crystal Springs Creek was designated by City Council as the city’s first Salmon Sanctuary.
