Watershed Wide Event 2009

March 7, 2009

Thanks to our volunteers, partners and sponsors, our 11th annual Watershed Wide Event was a tremendous success! Three hundred fifty volunteers joined together at 10 restoration sites throughout the watershed for a morning of amazing accomplishments, including removing 58 cubic yards of invasive plants, planting 4,835 native plants, hauling away 17 bags of trash and mulching thousands of plants! Afterwards, volunteers celebrated at luncheons where they warmed up with soup and chili and shared stories of the morning. • Foster Place - Help remove English Ivy from an understory riparian forest along Johnson Creek in outer SE Portland
• Lovena Farm - Assist farm members enhancing the riparian corridor through native plantings, weed removal, and mulching
• Powell Butte - Assist Oregon Hunters Association planting Oak trees
• Tideman Johnson Park - Help Friends of Tideman Johnson Park and the local community on vegetation enhancements at the Park
• Johnson Creek Park - Help Portland Parks and Recreation revegetate a newly acquired property along the lower stretches of Johnson Creek
• Errol Heights - Help revegetate the Errol heights wetlands and adjacent slopes
• Mitchell Creek - Come remove invasive species and plant natives along Mitchell Creek in this tucked away publicly owned 70 acre forest
• Ambleside - Assist Metro in planting native trees and shrubs along this beautiful stretch of Johnson Creek in Gresham
• Gresham Woods - Help the local historic downtown Gresham Kiwanis group in their long term stewardship in Gresham Woods along Johnson Creek
• Clatsop Butte - Help Friends of Trees and the local homeowners association revegetate in the Clatsop Butte area
