We’re celebrating our favorite flying friends with a bunch of fun activities that kids and adults will enjoy! Join us on Saturday\, June 6th from 1pm – 3pm at Tegart Ponds in SW Gresham. You can… \n\nAdd dragonflies and damselflies to our iNaturalist Bioblitz project\nTry your hand at catching dragonflies\nLearn the differences between dragonflies and damselflies\nMake dragonfly art and crafts to take home\nLearn about pollinator friendly gardening practices\nLearn about the benefits of stormwater ponds and how watersheds function\nHAVE FUN!\n\nWhatever you do\, don’t miss the Dragonfly Day Bioblitz! See you there! \nPlease RSVP by clicking here so we know how many people to expect!\nWhat: Dragonfly Day \nWhen: June 6th\, 1pm-3pm   Saturday\, June 13th\, 1pm-3pm \nWhere: Tegart Pond in SW Gresham. The nearest address is 4293 SW Brixton Ave\, Gresham\, OR 97080. \nHow to prepare: Create an account on iNaturalist and join the Bioblitz project – JCWC Dragonfly Day Bioblitz! Tegart Pond. This event will happen rain or shine\, so dress for weather: rain coat\, warm layers\, sun hat\, and sunscreen as necessary. Wear sturdy\, close-toed shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Some activities will take place in and around long grasses and potentially pokey plants. Long sleeves and long pants are recommended. Bring a filled water bottle and a snack. You can also bring a blanket or folding chairs to sit in the grass \nWe will provide: All necessary instruction and materials for activities. If you have your own insect net you are welcome to bring it. We can also provide bus fare to and from the event. Please contact info@jcwc.org to arrange bus fare. \nHealth and Safety: We will follow current Oregon Health Authority guidelines. Stay home if you are experiencing symptoms of any contagious illness or have had recent contact with someone exhibiting symptoms of any illness. \nChildren are welcome: This event is great for children of all ages.  \nAccessibility: This event may require standing\, sitting\, or squatting for extended periods of time. There will be limited seating and shade available. The dragonfly catching activity will take place in and around a stormwater pond with mildly sloping to flat banks. A portable bathroom will be available.  \nPlease RSVP by clicking here so we know how many people to expect!\nDirections: Tegart Ponds are located at the corner of SW 43rd Ave and SW Brixton Ave in Gresham. The closest street address is 4293 SW Brixton Ave\, Gresham. \nBy transit: This site is not easily accessed by public transit. Take Bus #9 (Portland/Gresham TC) to W Powell & SW Duniway. Transfer to Bus #82 (Gresham Village) and take it to SW Heiney & Binford Lake. Walk about 1.5 miles south on Wonderview Dr\, SW 27th D.\, SW Mawcrest Ave\, SW Willow Pkwy\, SW 31st St\, SW Tegart Ave\, SW 38th St\, and SW Brixton Ave. Take the access path from the corner of SW Brixton and SW 43rd south to the wetland trail. \nBy bike: Take the Springwater Corridor Trail to SW Highland Dr. Follow SW Highland Dr south (it will become SW Pleasant View Dr and then SE 190th Dr) for about 1.5 miles. Turn left (east) onto SW Butler Rd\, then right on SW Tegart Ave\, left on SW 38th\, and right onto SW Brixton Ave. Find the access path to the wetlands at the corner of SW Brixton Ave and SE 43rd St. \nBy car: Take SE Powell Blvd (from Portland) or W Powell Blvd (From Gresham)/Hwy 26 to SW Highland Dr. Turn south onto SW Highland Dr (it will become SW Pleasant View Dr and then SE 190th Dr). Turn left onto SW 41st St\, then right onto SW Brixton Ave. Park along SW 43rd St (please be respectful of our neighbors’ driveways!). \nThank you to our funders and partners for supporting watershed health. DESCRIPTION:This year\, we gather to celebrate The Current That Carries Us. \nFor more than 30 years\, Walt Mintkeski was a guiding force behind community-led restoration in the Johnson Creek watershed. His steady presence\, deep care\, and unwavering belief in people power helped shape the creek and the community we know today. Walt was the current that carried this work forward. Leave a tribute to Walt here  \nWith his passing this winter\, we feel both the weight of loss and the strength of what he set in motion. Now\, each of us is called to step into that current\, to carry this work forward together. \nJoin us for an evening of remembrance\, connection\, and purpose.
