SUMMARY:Johnson Creek Days - Restoration Site Bike Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join Daniel Newberry\, Executive Director of JCWC\, and Noah Jenkins\, Riparian Program Manager on a biking tour of past and present restoration projects in the Johnson Creek Watershed. On this tour you will get insight into the process of restoring habitat in the riparian area including site selection\, plant selection\, and invasive removal techniques. You will also learn about the impact that restoration has on fish passage\, erosion control\, and how we are working with beavers! \nCLICK HERE TO RSVP\nWhat: Biking tour along the Springwater Trail of habitat restoration sites in the Johnson Creek Watershed.  \nWhen: Tuesday\, September 12th\, 2023 from 5:30pm-7:30pm \nWhere: Meet at Westmoreland Park (directions emailed to you after registration)\, bike to Tideman Johnson Natural Area and Errol Heights. The ride is 2.5 miles one-way from Westmoreland Park to Errol Heights.  \nHow to prepare: This event will happen rain or shine\, so dress for weather: rain coat\, warm layers\, sun hat\, and sunscreen as necessary. Wear sturdy\, close-toed shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Bring a filled water bottle and a snack. Participants must provide their own bike.  \nWe will provide: Snacks \nHealth and Safety: We will follow current Oregon Health Authority guidelines. Masks are not required\, but encouraged in indoor spaces where social distancing is not possible. Stay home if you are experiencing symptoms of any contagious illness or have had recent contact with someone exhibiting symptoms of any illness. \nChildren are welcome at this event with an attentive adult.  \nAccessibility: This event will require the ability to leisurely bike for up to two hours on a fairly flat stretch of the Springwater Trail. Some standing\, walking\, and squatting may be required. SUMMARY:Johnson Creek Days- Crystal Springs Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join the Crystal Springs Partnership for a walk along the creek from bottom to top\, highlighting past\, present\, and future enhancements and restoration of Crystal Springs Creek. It has been the better part of a decade since we hosted a walking tour\, and a lot has happened since then! Our walk will include stops at the confluence with Johnson Creek\, the Brannen Natural Area site\, Westmoreland Park\, followed by a peek at the creek as it passes Westmoreland Union Manor and the Eastmoreland Golf Course. We’ll stop at Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden\, and finish up at Reed College Canyon. \nCLICK HERE TO RSVP\nWhat: Walking tour of Crystal Springs \nWhen: September 16th\, 2023 from 10:00am to 12:00pm \nWhere: Meet at Johnson Creek Park (directions emailed after registration) and set off to visit various sites along Crystal Springs Creek. The tour is 5 miles roundtrip. \nHow to prepare: This event will happen rain or shine\, so dress for weather: rain coat\, warm layers\, sun hat\, and sunscreen as necessary. Wear sturdy\, close-toed shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Bring a filled water bottle and a snack. \nHealth and Safety: We will follow current Oregon Health Authority guidelines.
