SUMMARY:Earth Day at 7th St Bridge
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we partner with the City of Gresham to enhance the ecosystem around Johnson Creek! In honor of Earth Day\, we’ll work at the 7th St Bridge site\, which is located near Eastman Parkway and the Springwater corridor trail. The City of Gresham and volunteers planted hundreds of native trees and shrubs here; now it’s time to mulch them! Mulch acts as an insulator\, retains water\, keeps plant competition at bay and protects from erosion. Come join us in taking care of these plants that will take care of us as they mature! \n\n\n\nCLICK HERE TO RSVPWhen: Monday\, April 22nd\, 9:30 am- 12:30 pm \n\n\n\nWhere: 7th St. Bridge. The closest address to the site is 685 SW 4th St\, Gresham\, OR.  \n\n\n\nWhat: We will mulch native plants. Tasks may shift as needs change on the site. \n\n\n\nHow to prepare: This event will happen rain or shine\, so dress for the weather! Wear long thick pants\, a long-sleeved shirt\, and sturdy shoes you don’t mind getting muddy. Bring a raincoat or a hat and sunscreen\, as appropriate. Bring a filled water bottle and snacks! You’re welcome to bring gloves and tools\, if you want to use your own. \n\n\n\nWhat we provide: Gloves and all necessary tools\, and instruction on how to safely use tools and mulch trees and shrubs. We can also provide bus fare to and from the event. Please contact sima@jcwc.org to arrange bus fare. \n\n\n\nHealth and Safety: We will follow current Oregon Health Authority guidelines. Masks are not required\, but encouraged in indoor spaces where social distancing is not possible. Stay home if you are experiencing symptoms of any contagious illness or have had recent contact with someone exhibiting symptoms of any illness. \n\n\n\nChildren are welcome: Children must be accompanied by an attentive adult. This work is around and near sharp prickly plants and can be challenging for young children. We recommend children ages 12 and up for this type of event. \n\n\n\nAccessibility: This event may require standing or squatting/kneeling for long periods of time\, walking over uneven ground\, bending and lifting heavy objects.  \n\n\n\nBathrooms are NOT available on site. The closest facilities are within a short drive to a corner market\, or the facili-trees! \n\n\n\nCLICK HERE TO RSVP \n\n\n\nThank you to our funders and partners for supporting watershed health\, including The City of Gresham.
