SUMMARY:Wildflower Walk for the Deaf Community
DESCRIPTION:Spring is a beautiful time to view wildflowers and nesting birds at Powell Butte Nature Park. Join us as we partner with Portland Parks & Recreation for a Wildflower Walk at Powell Butte for members of the Deaf Community on Saturday\, May 11th\, 10:00AM-12noon. We’ll walk a paved path near the visitor center at Powell Butte to view the wildflowers and birds. An interpreter is provided\, along with visual guides. This event has limited spots and registration is required. \n\n\n\nCLICK HERE TO RSVP \n\n\n\nWhat: Wildflower Walk for members of the Deaf Community \n\n\n\nWhen: Saturday\, May 11th\, from 10:00 am – 12 noon \n\n\n\nWhere: Powell Butte (directions below). \n\n\n\nHow to prepare: This event will happen rain or shine\, so dress for weather: rain coat\, warm layers\, sun hat\, and sunscreen as necessary. Wear sturdy shoes for walking. Bring a filled water bottle and a snack – optional. \n\n\n\nWe will provide: An interpreter\, visual guides\, and the walking tour. Please contact info@jcwc.org to arrange bus fare if needed. \n\n\n\nHealth and Safety: We will follow current Oregon Health Authority guidelines. Masks are not required\, but encouraged in indoor spaces where social distancing is not possible. Stay home if you are experiencing symptoms of any contagious illness or have had recent contact with someone exhibiting symptoms of any illness. \n\n\n\nChildren are permitted: Children are welcome at this event if accompanied by an attentive adult.  \n\n\n\nAccessibility: This event may require standing for long periods\, walking over uneven ground\, going up or down steep slopes.  ADA accessible path\, restrooms available \n\n\n\nCLICK HERE TO RSVP \n\n\n\nDirections: Powell Butte Nature Park 16160 SE Powell Blvd\, Portland \n\n\n\nBy transit: Take route 9 east on SE Powell Blvd to SE Powell & Naegeli. Walk about half a mile uphill on SE 162nd Ave to reach the visitor’s center.  \n\n\n\nBy bike: Take the Springwater Corridor trail east and turn right onto SE Jenne Rd (which becomes SE 174th Ave). Turn left onto Naegeli Dr\, left on Lillian Way\, then follow Anderegg Loop in either direction to reach the Johnson Creek Trail. Take the trail to SE 163nd Ave and bike steeply uphill to reach the visitor’s center. \n\n\n\nBy car: Take SE Powell Blvd/Hwy 26 east and turn right onto 162nd Ave. Park in the main lot and meet near the visitor’s center. \n\n\n\nThank you to our funders and partners for supporting watershed health.
