SUMMARY:Depave Event at Trinity Lutheran Church
DESCRIPTION:Join us with our partners at Depave to remove impermeable asphalt from the parking lot at the Trinity Lutheran Church. In the spring\, we will return to the site to plant rain gardens in replacement of the pavement. This project will reduce the water that flows from the City storm drains and into Johnson Creek\, helping to reduce pollution\, oil and trash from entering the creek. Our partners at Depave will train everyone on the best way to safely remove pavement for the day! No experience necessary! \nPre-registration is required\, we expect this event to fill quickly! \nCLICK HERE TO RSVP\nWhat: Removing asphalt from the parking lot to help reduce pollutants from entering the creek.  \nWhen: Saturday\, October 21st from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm with a break for lunch\, burrito lunch included! \nWhere: Trinity Lutheran Church located at 507 W Powell Blvd\, Gresham\, OR 97030. Designated parking can be accessed through the NW Ava Ave driveway. Additional street parking can be found along NW Ava Ave. \nHow to prepare: This event will happen rain or shine\, so dress for weather: rain coat\, warm layers\, sun hat\, and sunscreen as necessary. Wear sturdy\, close-toed shoes\, long pants and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Bring a filled water bottle. \nWe will provide: Gloves\, and all necessary tools and instruction for the day. We can also provide bus fare to and from the event. Please contact monica@jcwc.org to arrange bus fare. We will also provide coffee\, and snacks.  \nHealth and Safety: We will follow current Oregon Health Authority guidelines. Masks are not required\, but encouraged in indoor spaces where social distancing is not possible. Stay home if you are experiencing symptoms of any contagious illness or have had recent contact with someone exhibiting symptoms of any illness. \nYouth 14 years and older are welcome and must be accompanied by an attentive adult.  \nAccessibility: This event requires walking and standing for multiple hours\, lifting large pieces of asphalt up to 50 lbs.\, pushing wheelbarrows\, bending and squatting. DESCRIPTION:Join Johnson Creek Watershed Council and Portland Parks & Recreation to protect trees by clearing ivy from around them at this little Natural Area through which Indian Creek runs on its way to Johnson Creek.
