SUMMARY:Errol Heights Bird Walk with Jeff Marks
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the newly renovated Errol Heights Park for a bird walk with ornithologist Jeff Marks. Explore new features throughout the park and habitats designed for a variety of terrestrial and aquatic birds. Jeff has graduate degrees in Wildlife Biology (breeding ecology of Long-eared Owls) and Zoology (nonbreeding ecology of Bristle-thighed Curlews). He has more than 60  journal publications on birds and is the senior author of Birds of Montana in addition to being the Executive Director of the Montana Bird Advocacy. \n\n\n\nCLICK HERE TO RVSP \n\n\n\nWhat: Bird Walk  at Errol Heights Park with Jeff Marks \n\n\n\nWhen: Saturday\, March 16th\, from 7:30 am – 8:30pm \n\n\n\nWhere: Errol Heights City Park (directions emailed after registration). \n\n\n\nWhat to bring: Bring a filled water bottle and binoculars. \n\n\n\nWhat to wear: Dress for the weather! DESCRIPTION:Spring is a beautiful time to view wildflowers and nesting birds at Powell Butte Nature Park. Join us as we partner with Portland Parks & Recreation for a Wildflower Walk at Powell Butte for members of the Deaf Community on Saturday\, May 11th\, 10:00AM-12noon. We’ll walk a paved path near the visitor center at Powell Butte to view the wildflowers and birds. An interpreter is provided\, along with visual guides. SUMMARY:ASL Tour for the Deaf Community
DESCRIPTION:Johnson Creek Watershed Council is partnering with Leach Botanical Garden to provide an ASL Tour for the Deaf Community. The guided garden tour will be in ASL only and is geared towards Deaf visitors and their families. \n\n\n\nLight snacks and refreshments will follow the tour with an opportunity to chat in a shady spot. While areas of the garden are wheelchair accessible\, the garden tour includes areas that are sloped and unpaved. Those with limited mobility may self tour the upper garden and join the group in the meadow for refreshments after. \n\n\n\nThis event is free with garden admission of $5.00. Leach Botanical Garden offers a Garden for All program to reduce entrance cost barriers – reach out to Max mmeyers@leachgarden.org to be included in the program for this event. \n\n\n\nThe tour route is not wheelchair accessible and will be led on uneven paths and slopes\, on a mix of gravel\, steps\, and pavement. The tour will be in ASL only; no English interpretation will be available. Or bike east on SE Foster Rd and turn right onto SE 122nd Ave\, then left into the main entrance. \n\n\n\nBy car: Take SE Foster Rd east and turn right on SE 122nd Ave. Park at the upper parking lot at the main entrance. (If you find yourself going down a steep hill you have gone too far!) Meet at the main entrance near the admissions kiosk. Join JCWC and PP&R at Powell Butte for a presentation by Susan Hawes on PNW Native Plants – Plant ID\, Where you can find them\, and Will they grow in your yard?\, followed by a short 1.5 mile hike at Powell Butte. An interpreter is provided\, along with visual guides. This event has limited spots with priority given to members of the Deaf Community and their family.
