SUMMARY:ASL Tour for the Deaf Community
DESCRIPTION:Johnson Creek Watershed Council is partnering with Leach Botanical Garden to provide an ASL Tour for the Deaf Community. The guided garden tour will be in ASL only and is geared towards Deaf visitors and their families. \n\n\n\nLight snacks and refreshments will follow the tour with an opportunity to chat in a shady spot. While areas of the garden are wheelchair accessible\, the garden tour includes areas that are sloped and unpaved. Those with limited mobility may self tour the upper garden and join the group in the meadow for refreshments after. \n\n\n\nThis event is free with garden admission of $5.00. Leach Botanical Garden offers a Garden for All program to reduce entrance cost barriers – reach out to Max mmeyers@leachgarden.org to be included in the program for this event. \n\n\n\nThe tour route is not wheelchair accessible and will be led on uneven paths and slopes\, on a mix of gravel\, steps\, and pavement. The tour will be in ASL only; no English interpretation will be available. Max is a CODA who grew up in Eugene\, Oregon\, with a mix of ASL\, PSE\, and English.  \n\n\n\nRegister and Purchase Garden Admission Here \n\n\n\nWhat: ASL Tour for the Deaf Community \n\n\n\nWhen: Saturday\, September 28th\, 10:00am-12noon \n\n\n\nWhere: Leach Botanical Garden (see directions below) \n\n\n\nWhat to bring: Bring a filled water bottle (optional).  \n\n\n\nWhat to wear: Dress for the weather! Walking shoes are recommended. \n\n\n\nWhat we provide: Guided tour\, light refreshments and drinks. ADA compliant restrooms are on site. \n\n\n\nDirections to site:  \n\n\n\nBy transit: Take route #73 or #10 to SE Foster & 122nd. Walk about 0.2 miles south on SE 122nd Ave to the main entrance to the garden. \n\n\n\nBy bike: Take the Springwater Corridor Trail east\, then turn right on 122nd Ave. Cross SE Foster Rd\, then turn left into the main entrance. Or bike east on SE Foster Rd and turn right onto SE 122nd Ave\, then left into the main entrance. \n\n\n\nBy car: Take SE Foster Rd east and turn right on SE 122nd Ave. Park at the upper parking lot at the main entrance. (If you find yourself going down a steep hill you have gone too far!) Meet at the main entrance near the admissions kiosk. SUMMARY:Native Plant Presentation & Hike with the Deaf Community
DESCRIPTION:This Event is Cancelled\nSpring is here and the plants are blooming. Join JCWC and PP&R at Powell Butte for a presentation by Susan Hawes on PNW Native Plants – Plant ID\, Where you can find them\, and Will they grow in your yard?\, followed by a short 1.5 mile hike at Powell Butte. An interpreter is provided\, along with visual guides. This event has limited spots with priority given to members of the Deaf Community and their family. Walk about half a mile uphill on SE 162nd Ave to reach the visitor’s center.  \nBy bike: Take the Springwater Corridor trail east and turn right onto SE Jenne Rd (which becomes SE 174th Ave). Turn left onto Naegeli Dr\, left on Lillian Way\, then follow Anderegg Loop in either direction to reach the Johnson Creek Trail.
