To honor his legacy\, we will participate in reflective conversations and activities in addition to restoring habitat. \nWe know that groups often look for service opportunities on Dr. MLK Jr. day\, and our organization has long held an event on this day of service. \nIf you are part of a group that would like to participate\, we encourage and will prioritize offering this event to groups who choose to volunteer AND DONATE to a BIPOC led group working for racial justice.  \nNot sure who to support? Register now and receive an emailed list of suggested organizations.  \nWhen: Monday January 16th\, 2022 10am-12pm \nHow to prepare: This event will happen rain or shine\, so dress for weather: rain coat\, warm layers\, sun hat\, and sunscreen as necessary. SUMMARY:Habitat Enhancement at Kingsley D. Bundy Park
DESCRIPTION:Join Portland Parks & Recreation and Pleasant Valley Neighborhood Association to plant native plants on this little hidden park next to Johnson Creek. Planting native plants provides food and shelter for wildlife such as birds\, coyotes and deer. Check out the Creek in its winter glory\, and keep your eye out for wildlife as you volunteer alongside other community members—everyone welcome\, and no experience necessary! \n  \nCLICK HERE TO RSVP\n  \nWhat: Planting 350-400 native plants to provide habitat for wildlife. There will be a short tour of the site at the end of the event.  \n  \nWhen: Saturday\, January 14th\, from 9am-12 noon \n  \nWhere: Kingsley D. DESCRIPTION:Errol Heights Park is being re-imagined! Construction is currently happening\, and the goal is that sometime late next year we will be able to enjoy the new amenities of the Park: ADA-accessible trails\, nature play area\, Portland “loo” (bathroom)\, picnic tables\, basketball court\, and more! Check it out: Errol Heights Park Project | Portland.gov. In the meantime\, staff\, volunteers and members of the public are not allowed in the Park because of construction zone safety concerns. DESCRIPTION:Join the Friends of Tideman Johnson Park and the Johnson Creek Watershed Council for a morning of stewardship and habitat enhancement! Tideman Johnson is a small but sweet park along Johnson Creek and the Springwater Corridor Trail in SE Portland. No experience necessary! \nRSVP HERE!\nWhen: Saturday\, October 1st\, 9am-12pm(first Saturday of the month) \nWhere: Tideman Johnson City Park (directions below) \nTask: Native plantings\, litter pickup\, and invasive weed removal. Tasks may shift as needs change on the site \nWhat to wear: dress for the weather! Wear long thick pants\, a long-sleeved shirt\, and sturdy shoes you don’t mind getting muddy. Bring a raincoat or a hat and sunscreen\, as appropriate. \nWhat to bring: a mask is required when 6-foot social distancing cannot be maintained. Bring a filled water bottle and snacks. You’re welcome to bring gloves and tools\, if you want to use your own. \nWhat we provide: gloves\, tools\, and instruction on how to safely use tools and remove invasive weeds. \nChildren are welcome but must be accompanied by an attentive adult. DESCRIPTION:What: Clearing vegetation from 1242 sq. feet of a bioswale in the parking lot. We like to do this in the summer to make sure it’s cleared and draining properly when the rains come in the fall.
