JCWC needs your help locally to retain recent native plantings performed during the Watershed Wide Event last month. SUMMARY:Sunday Parkways at Foster Floodplains
DESCRIPTION:East Portland Sunday Parkways will once again include the Foster Floodplain Natural Area. The 63-acre Foster Floodplain Natural Area is located just south of SE Foster Road between SE 104th and SE 111th avenues\, near the Springwater Corridor Trail.  Make sure you stop by and get your fish hat.  There will be lots of other fun activities including Audubon\’s Birds of Prey\, food\, music by Train River\, and basic mechanics by Bike Farm.  Take some time to walk or bike the trail and learn about Johnson Creek. \nSee  the SunPkwys ePoster 2014. DESCRIPTION:World Fish Migration Day 2014 (WFMD) on May 24th is a global initiative\, with local events worldwide\, to create awareness on the importance of open rivers and migratory fish. WFMD is held to improve the publics’ understanding of the importance of open rivers and migratory fish and their needs. \nLocally\, Johnson Creek Watershed Council will host a Science Talk on Lampreys on June 3rd\, along with a tour of Willamette Falls in partnership with the  Greater Oregon City Watershed Council. \nOn May 24th NOAA Fisheries West Coast Region is hosting an event at Bonneville Dam. The public will be able to tour the dam and learn how technical innovation has changed how juvenile and adult salmon migrate to and from the project. Juvenile Chinook salmon will be migrating this time of year\, providing the public with an opportunity to witness part of their remarkable journey. For more information\, please visit http://www.nwp.usace.army.mil/Locations/ColumbiaRiver/Bonneville.aspx\” \nAlso on May 24th Tryon Creek Watershed Council will be leading an educational paddle trip on the Willamette River\, stopping at the confluences of Johnson Creek and Tryon Creek. Biologists and restoration professionals will discuss the importance of these tributaries to salmon and lamprey that migrate through the Willamette River system and through the heart of Portland.
