DESCRIPTION:Save the date for Johnson Creek Watershed Council’s most unified restoration event of the year! The 25th Annual Watershed Wide Event happening March 4th from 8:45am -12noon. We will spread out at 10 simultaneous work parties throughout the watershed. Stick around for lunch at the end. For nearly 50 years\, local residents have dedicated their time and energy to restore\, repair\, and clean Johnson Creek. We are proud to be part of this legacy!\n\nJohnson Creek is a unique waterway\, providing home and habitat to lots of special wildlife and a lot of human communities. This event is a great time to come together and care for the creek and watershed as we weed\, plant and mulch helping to restore a healthier watershed. Join the legacy! \n\nPLEASE RSVP. There are jobs for multiple abilities and talents! We need 9 helpers to pick up and deliver lunch to all of the sites\, 10 photographers\, and 2 helpers to get food to the sites in the morning. If you are interested in any of these jobs\, Special Jobs please sign up HERE!\n\nWhen: Saturday\, March 4th from 8:45-12:00noon\n\nWhere: Choose your desired site (below). After you sign the waiver\, directions will be sent to your email inbox. \n\nHow to prepare: This event will happen rain or shine\, so dress for weather: rain coat\, warm layers\, sun hat\, and sunscreen as necessary. Wear sturdy\, close-toed shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Bring a filled water bottle and a snack.\n\nWhat we will provide: Gloves\, and all necessary tools\, plus free lunch at the end of the event. We can also provide bus fare to and from the event. DESCRIPTION:Join us in removing invasive weeds from the Leach Botanical Garden! This work helps to create new spaces and supports our collaborative Back 5 educational project. No experience necessary! \nThe Leach Botanical Garden is a hidden gem in outer SE Portland. Beyond the manicured paths of the garden are several acres of forests and fields which have become overrun by Himalayan blackberry\, English ivy\, and other invasive weeds. The garden needs your help to become a healthy ecosystem again! \n  \nClick here to RSVP\n  \nWhat: Invasive species removal\, grubbing\, and weeding. \nWhen: Wednesday\, March 8th\, 2023\, 9am-12pm \nWhere: Leach Botanical Garden (see directions below) \nWhat to bring: Bring a filled water bottle and snacks. DESCRIPTION:EVENT FULL -Registration is Required \nCurious about what (or whoooo) comes out once the sun goes down? Join us as we partner with Happy Valley Parks and Recreation on a guided Park After Dark trail walk in Scouters Mountain Nature Park. Learn how to become more aware of our nocturnal neighbors – we will use our senses to discover what can be seen\, heard\, or even smelled on this fun night walk! You may even find animal tracks\, hear owl calls\, or sneak a peek at some night crawlers. \nIn the week leading up to the Park After Dark walk\, participants will be emailed links to some resources and tips on how to identify night animals by sight and sound\, so that they are well equipped once we hit the trail. On the evening of the walk\, we will meet at the top of Scouters Mountain Nature Park before sunset and JCWC will share some educational insight and lead the way on trails through the park. \nWhen: March 16th 6:45-8:00pm \nWhere: Scouters Mountain Nature Park – 11000 SE Honorable Way \nHow to Prepare:  This event will happen rain or shine\, so dress for weather: rain coat\, warm layers and a hat.
