No Ivy Day at Indian Creek Natural Area
November 20 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Join Johnson Creek Watershed Council and Portland Parks & Recreation for a day of pulling, cutting, and removing ivy!
When: Saturday 20 November from 9 am – 12 noon.
Where: Indian Creek Natural Area (Outer SE PDX)
No Ivy Day is a city-wide event hosted by Portland Parks & Recreation every year since 2003. English ivy is one of the most widespread invasive weeds in the metro area. It strangles trees and drives out the native plants that keep our watershed healthy.
Help Johnson Creek Watershed Council protect trees and promote wildlife habitat at this little gem of a natural area in southeast Portland. No experience necessary! Be aware the terrain at this natural area is steep and rocky in places. Children aged 12 and up are welcome and must be accompanied by an attentive adult.
We will provide instructions, tools, gloves, and an on-site portable toilet. We will also provide snacks, coffee, and tea, but bring your own mug. Bring a mask, tools if you have them (gloves, hand clippers, trowel), filled water bottle, and extra snacks. Event will happen rain or shine, so dress for the weather: sun hat and sunscreen or rain gear as needed. Wear long sleeves, thick pants, and sturdy shoes.
RSVP is required! RSVP HERE.
A mask or face covering is required at check-in and any time during the event when six-foot social distancing cannot be maintained, regardless of vaccination status. Please bring your own hand sanitizer, tools, and gloves, if possible. Masks, hand sanitizer, and tools will be provided for those who do not have their own.
