Calling all seasoned birders! JCWC, Conservation Insight and Portland Parks & Recreation to begin an exciting new project monitoring Savannah Sparrow and other prairie nesting birds at Powell Butte Nature Park. If you have intermediate or better bird identification skills and own your own binoculars, this is the project for you! Register at the link below before all the spots fill up…

You’re invited Friday, April 12th OR Saturday, April 13th from 7:30am-9:30am for a required orientation and training on the specific protocols.  Meet at the Butte, bring your binoculars and we’ll provide everything else for you. We’ll do a test survey together, and the following surveys will take place every week from mid-April to June (10 weeks total). Survey date sign ups will be a part of orientation, so bring your calendars, please! Register HERE

Volunteers must have intermediate or greater birding ID skills and must use their own binoculars. All data collection is done via eBird, so there are no paper forms.  Volunteers must create their own account prior to the orientation and we encourage you to do your data entry with the free, downloadable eBird smartphone app.
