Stewardship at Foster Floodplain

January 28 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

When: Friday 28 January 2022

Where: Foster Floodplain Natural Area

Join us for a morning of environmental stewardship at the Foster Floodplain Natural Area. This work helps create important habitat for fish, birds, mammals, and many other animals and ensures our streams stay healthy.

The Foster Floodplain Natural Area is a fascinating site that was once a suburban neighborhood. Frequent flooding caused the area to be returned to a more natural state that helps to control high water.

RSVP is required! Sign up here.

Task: Invasive species removal, litter pickup, and other stewardship activities as needed.

What to wear: dress for the weather! Wear long thick pants, a long-sleeved shirt, and sturdy shoes you don’t mind getting muddy. Bring a raincoat or a hat and sunscreen, as appropriate.

What to bring: a mask is required. Bring a filled water bottle and snacks. You’re welcome to bring gloves and tools, if you want to use your own.

What we provide: gloves, tools, and instruction on how to safely use tools and remove invasive weeds.

Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an attentive adult. This work is around and near prickly plants and potentially sharp litter, and can be challenging for young children. We recommend children ages 12 and up for this type of event.

We will be following current covid-19 safety precautions. Masks and social distancing will be required at this event.
