Field notes:

Spring has arrived at Erroll Heights. The Osoberry is flowering, and the geese are arriving. Judging by their aggressive behavior I’d guess it’s nesting season. The ducks are also more wary than usual. Bufflehead ducks are still hanging around as are groups of wood ducks. Snowberry is leafed out, and the elderberry is breaking bud. PPR is busy planting lots of natives near the ponds. Beaver activity has slowed down; no new bark stripping or downed trees. Water level is higher behind the fenceline dam as they extend it to the north. The clematis is leafing out, showing where this years battle will be. Nice to see everything greening up
