2024 Watershed Discovery Day

Want to learn more about what a watershed is and what you can do to improve the water quality in one fun event? Pack a picnic lunch and join us Saturday, June 1st at Mill Park as we partner with Clackamas Water Environment Services, World Salmon Council, SOLVE and North Clackamas Park and Recreation and District for a family friendly day of learning about and caring for a healthy Johnson Creek Watershed. 

Kick off the day by picking up litter with SOLVE around Johnson Creek 9am- 11am. Join us for fun activities at JCWC partner booths 10am-12pm. Picnics and play encouraged! Follow your very own Watershed Discovery Day passport to multiple family-friendly booths to discover how you can contribute to healthy streams, protect wildlife in your neighborhood, and win prizes. Enter a raffle to win great prizes from local businesses, including prizes from The Portland Nursery, Missionary Chocolates and SOLVE!

What and When: Saturday, June 1st, 2024. SOLVE clean up 9am- 11am. Family- friendly watershed activities at partner booths 10am- 12pm. Attend one or both parts of the event!

Where: Mill Park, 6201 SE Overland St., Milwaukie, Oregon

How to prepare: This event will happen rain or shine, so dress for the weather: rain coat, warm layers, sun hat, and sunscreen as necessary. Bring a filled water bottle, a picnic lunch, and a blanket or chairs to sit on.

We will provide: All necessary tools for the cleanup will be provided by SOLVE. JCWC and partners will provide family- friendly activities at booths and stations.

Health and Safety: We will follow current Oregon Health Authority guidelines. Masks are not required, but encouraged in indoor spaces where social distancing is not possible. Stay home if you are experiencing symptoms of any contagious illness or have had recent contact with someone exhibiting symptoms of any illness.

Children are encouraged to attend! Children are welcome at this event if accompanied by an attentive adult. 

Accessibility: If you are participating in the clean up with SOLVE, this event may require walking over uneven ground. One standard and one ADA accessible portapotty will be available on site.

Parking: There will be street parking available for vehicles. There will additionally be a parking lot available for use that is across the street from the park on the corner of SE Linwood Ave and SE Overland St. The neighborhood is pedestrian and bike friendly.

By car: Please use this address for the event: 6201 SE Overland St., Milwaukie, Oregon.
By transit: Refer to Trimet.org
By bike: Take the Springwater Corridor Trail to SE Linwood ave and turn south. The park will be at the first street on your left, SE Overland St.
