Habitat Enhancement at Kingsley D. Bundy Park

February 10 @ 1:00 pm 3:00 pm

Kingsley D. Bundy Park

Join the  Pleasant Valley Neighborhood Association and the Johnson Creek Watershed Council for a morning of stewardship and habitat enhancement! Kingsley D. Bundy Park is a small, hidden gem along Johnson Creek in SE Portland. No experience necessary!

When: Saturday, February 10th, 1pm-3pm

Where: Kingsley D. Bundy Park (directions below)

Task: Native plantings, litter pickup, and invasive weed removal. Tasks may shift as needs change on the site

What to wear: dress for the weather! Wear long thick pants, a long-sleeved shirt, and sturdy shoes you don’t mind getting muddy. Bring a raincoat or a hat and sunscreen, as appropriate.

What to bring: Bring a filled water bottle and snacks. You’re welcome to bring gloves and tools, if you want to use your own.

What we provide: gloves, tools, and instruction on how to safely use tools and remove invasive weeds.

Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an attentive adult. This work is around and near prickly plants and can be challenging for young children. We recommend children ages 10 and up for this type of event.

Health and Safety: We will follow current Oregon Health Authority guidelines. Masks are not required, but encouraged in indoor spaces where social distancing is not possible. Stay home if you are experiencing symptoms of any contagious illness or have had recent contact with someone exhibiting symptoms of any illness.

Accessibility: This event may require standing or squatting/kneeling for long periods of time, walking over uneven ground, bending and lifting heavy objects. Bathrooms are available for this event.

DIRECTIONS TO SITE

Meet at: Kingsley D. Bundy Park. Important to read: Park is located on SE 141st Avenue, south of SE Foster Road. SE 141st Avenue is a dirt road. There is no parking lot or space for cars at the Park entrance. Please be sure to not block neighbors’ driveways. Then, walk ¼ mile down SE 141st Avenue (heading south) to the Park meeting site. Look for signs, which will be put up ½ hour before the event. We will put up a “Volunteer Parking” sign alongside SE Foster Road and a “Volunteer Event” sign that will point you down SE 141st Avenue to the Park, so that you know which direction to walk. Here is the Google link to the actual meeting (not parking!) location: https://goo.gl/maps/5fSKmHbRmmzmtLGS7

Tri-met bus:  Tri-met does not have a bus or train station near this park. The nearest stop is:  # 10 (Weekdays only! SE 136th & SE Foster stop, Stop #13245) #73 (Saturdays SE 122nd & SE Foster stop)
