PETALpalooza Ride from Mt. Tabor to Leach Botanical Garden

Join JCWC and Leach Botanical Garden staffers and volunteers on a PETALpalooza ride from Mt. Tabor Community Garden to Leach Botanical Garden!

What: ~8 mile bike ride from Mt. Tabor Community Garden to Leach Botanical Garden. Some small hills, nothing too gnarly. This is a casual-paced ride and not a race. This is also a no drop ride. All event participants receive free admission to Leach for the evening! Option to picnic and enjoy live experimental music at Leach. Ride leaders will lead an unofficial ride back to Mt. Tabor.
When: Sunday, July 20th 2025. Meet at 3:30 PM. Ride leaves at 4:00 PM SHARP. We expect to arrive at Leach around 5/5:30 PM.
Where: Meet at Mt Tabor community garden grassy area (45.50835, -122.6010)
What to bring and wear: Bike helmet, bike lock, bike lights, snacks, picnic blanket and picnic food. It will be hot so bring warm-weather items such as a filled water bottle, electrolyte powder/ drinks, sunhat, sunscreen and sunglasses. Dress for warm weather.
What we provide: We will provide ride leaders and volunteer corkers. Light snacks provided.
The ride back from Leach to Mt. Tabor: The official ride ends once we arrive at Leach. There will be an unofficial return ride from Leach to Mt. Tabor. The way back will be more casual, if you want us to keep an eye out for you please let a ride leader know.
Bathrooms: We’ll take a pit stop on the way somewhere with bathrooms. There are bathrooms at Leach, too.
Health and Safety: We will follow current Oregon Health Authority guidelines. Masks are not required, but encouraged in indoor spaces where social distancing is not possible. Stay home if you are experiencing symptoms of any contagious illness or have had recent contact with someone exhibiting symptoms of any illness.
Children are welcome: Children must be accompanied by an attentive adult. We recommend children ages 12 and up for this type of event.
Cancellation Conditions: If the weather forecast is >90 degrees at 4pm, or if the AQI is particularly bad, we will reschedule the ride.
