Our watershed is full of signs of life; from riparian buffers, human infrastructure, and salmon redds. Multiple databases within multiple agencies document these and it can be hard to track all of that information! JCWC is trying a new approach, by making a treasure trove of information available to the public, with much of this information having been collected by JCWC volunteers and employees themselves!
Story maps are a powerful tool that let us look at a large array of data in a visual way. Overlapping this visual data lets us see how our homes, communities, and favorite places fit into a larger picture. JCWC staff are already using this powerful tool to identify possible project locations and areas of interest. Our hope is to make this information more available to the people that helped collect it and get more eyes looking for trends within communities themselves.

The story map is not quite available, but some features you can look forward to are:
- Detailed map of Johnson Creek water features
- Detailed map of streets, and urban features of the watershed
- Beaver survey locations and information
- Past JCWC project sites
- Fish eDNA results by location
- Human demographics
- Outfall density map
- And more to come!
We will announce the map once it is released! This will be a living resource that can be updated over time and have new information added onto it as it becomes available. We’re so excited to share this with you!
